Harley Educational Psychology Practice (HEPP) brings together highly qualified and experienced psychologists providing specialist assessment and consultation for children, young people and adults in the UK and internationally. Every assessment is carefully tailored to the individual, their circumstances and the questions that need to be explored.
Before an assessment, clients or parents complete a consultation form so that our psychologists can understand their concerns, developmental and educational history, and the reasons for seeking assessment. A more detailed consultation forms part of the assessment process. Where appropriate, and with consent, our psychologists may also liaise with schools, colleges, workplaces or other professionals to build a fuller picture of the individual’s strengths and needs.
Our psychologists use a carefully selected range of standardised psychological and psycho-educational assessments, clinical approaches and specialist tools to explore areas including cognition, learning, attention, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and social development. Assessment findings are interpreted alongside background information and professional observations to develop a comprehensive understanding of the individual.
Following assessment, findings are brought together within a clear, comprehensive psychological report, including interpretation of results and practical, evidence-based recommendations for home, education or other relevant settings. Assessment sessions vary according to the age, needs and profile of each client, with appropriate breaks provided throughout where required.

At Harley Street Educational Psychology Practice, our team of specialist psychologists provides comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for children, young people and adults across the UK and internationally.
A psycho-educational assessment provides an in-depth understanding of an individual's unique cognitive, academic, learning, social-emotional and developmental profile. Rather than considering difficulties in isolation, our psychologists bring together assessment results, developmental and educational history, professional observations and information from families, schools and other specialists to develop a holistic understanding of the individual.
Depending on the reason for referral, an assessment may include:
An initial consultation and clinical interview to explore presenting concerns, developmental history and educational experiences.
Direct psychological and psycho-educational assessment of the child, young person or adult.
Standardised cognitive, attainment and other specialist assessment measures.
Clinical rating scales and questionnaires completed by the individual, parents, teachers or other professionals, where appropriate.
Review of relevant documentation, including school reports, Individual Education Plans (IEPs), learning plans and previous professional reports.
Consideration of relevant information from paediatricians, occupational therapists (OTs), speech and language therapists (SaLT) and other professionals.
Professional scoring, analysis and interpretation of standardised assessment results.
Feedback and consultation to explain the findings and discuss recommendations.
A comprehensive written psychological report integrating background information, assessment findings, professional interpretation and individually tailored recommendations.
Assessments Across the Lifespan
Our international psychology practice supports individuals across different stages of life, although the majority of our work is with school-aged children and young adults.
For younger children, assessment may take a whole-child developmental approach, considering emerging cognitive, communication, learning, social and emotional development. For school-aged children and young people, assessment can help identify strengths alongside potential barriers to learning, including specific learning difficulties, attention and executive-functioning needs, giftedness and social-emotional factors.
For adults, assessment may provide greater understanding of longstanding learning differences, cognitive strengths and difficulties, educational needs or workplace requirements.
The purpose is not simply to produce a score or label. Our aim is to understand the individual behind the assessment and translate psychological evidence into clear, practical recommendations that can support learning, confidence, independence and future development.

Choosing the right school or education system can be particularly complex for international families. HEPP provides psychology-led school placement and educational guidance for families considering schools, curricula and educational pathways in the UK and across the world.
Our psychologists consider the whole child: their cognitive and learning profile, strengths, additional needs, emotional wellbeing, educational history and future aspirations to help families make informed decisions about the environment in which their child is most likely to thrive.
We can advise families who are considering a change between educational systems, including British, American, International Baccalaureate (IB) and other international curricula, as well as transitions between mainstream, independent, international and specialist settings.
Where appropriate, we can undertake a psycho-educational assessment and provide a comprehensive psychological report to clarify a child's learning profile and identify the support, accommodations or educational provision they may require. We can also review existing school and professional reports and liaise with schools and other specialists where consent is provided.
For internationally mobile families, our global network of psychologists provides valuable insight into different educational contexts, helping parents understand not simply which school is available, but which educational environment is right for their child.
Whether a family is relocating internationally, changing curriculum, considering a new school or simply uncertain about their child's next educational step, HEPP provides independent psychological insight to help them move forward with clarity and confidence.

Testimonials
“HEPP has the best advocates you could wish for in supporting you and your child, their psychologists are straight talking, very knowledgeable and has years of experience. They’re unique in their approach, they look at ‘the whole’ child, not just their cognitive ability. This was key for us. HEPP made us successful in our appeal on content and our son now receives dedicated 1:1 support in his mainstream setting. Our psychologist assessed our son and found him of be cognitively very average, but her holistic approach and understanding of our sons complex needs (ASD, DCD, SPD) meant that she helped to shine a light on his struggles in the classroom and his learning environment. Our EP also incorporated key pieces of evidence from other professionals reports to help paint a picture of our sons struggles. HEPP was always available to discuss concerns we had regarding school and the tribunal process and we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.”
— Pauline, Former Client“My son who is now 11 years old has a diagnosis for Dyslexia, ADHD/ADD and Dyscalculia. He also has an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). Our EP Paula assessed my son at school and followed up with a thorough parent call to update. In addition to Paula’s wealth of qualifications, experience and professionalism she also has a wonderful way with people. We are incredibly grateful for all of Paula’s hard work and we would highly recommend her to anybody. My son’s educational future in a suitable setting is now protected, he is happy and thriving!!”
— Antony, Former Client“HEPP has an incredible team of psychologists tailored to meet both the needs of the parents, and needs of a child. In our case, we were able to find a school to meet the needs of our child (who had been out of education for over a year). We really needed someone to guide us, and give our family a helping hand to find the best international school for our child. We worked with a lead psychologist from HEPP who worked with the staff in our school to ensure that our child had the best learning experience. They’re incredibly knowledgeable with school placements, and work with a team of different schools in the Uk and worldwide. Our child got incredible IGSCE results, enabling her to get offers the best Russel Group universities, which I believe HEPP played a major role in enabling.”
